National Tequila Day – as if I needed a reason…

Happy National Tequila Day, (21+) friends! Tequila might possibly be my favorite liquor – and margaritas are certainly my favorite tequila-based beverage. Thanks to Blue Nectar Tequila, handcrafted from 100% estate-grown Blue Weber agave, I’d like to share with you a new take on the liquor with a couple of interesting, refreshing tequila-based drink recipes to help you celebrate this oh-so important holiday.

I’ve also included my favorite margarita recipe – which in my experience,  always tastes a little better with a cute umbrella in it!

Blackberry Blue Nectar® Bramble

Blue Nectar Bramble

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Blue Nectar Reposado
  • ¾ oz. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. simple syrup
  • ½ oz. blackberry liqueur
  • 3-5 blackberries as garnish
  • Crushed ice

Place all liquid ingredients into a tumbler filled with crushed ice and stir well. Garnish with blackberries.

Minted Mule

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Blue Nectar Silver Tequila
  • ½ oz. fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz. ginger beer
  • Mezcal float
  • 5 mint leaves for garnish

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add Blue Nectar® Silver Tequila and lime juice and shake well; pour in to a highball glass, top with ginger beer, and float the mezcal. Garnish with fresh mint leaves.

Muy delicioso margaritas

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 ounces Tequila
  • 1 ounce grapefruit juice
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce orange juice (I use Tropicana’s Trop50 when trying to cut down on sugar and calories)
  • 1 ounce simple syrup 
  • .5 ounce Patrón Citrónge

 Mix all ingredients with ice and shake well. Add sliced lime for added citrus flavor.
